10 Reasons To Take Your Family to Walt Disney World

By Kim Kolean, She Plans Travel: Disney Destination Specialist August 26, 2021

I loved visiting Walt Disney World (WDW) as a child, and now with my family as an adult and a mom.  It’s one of the few places in the world where babies, kids of all ages, moms and dads, and grandparents can vacation together without anyone having to compromise on having a great time at the resorts or at the parks.

Believe me I could list about 100 reasons (or more!) to visit WDW, but here’s my top 10:

1) Disney World is MAGIC through the eyes of a child

They don’t call it the “happiest place on earth” for nothing.  It’s a place where all the fantastic things you see in your favorite Disney movies come to life before your very eyes.  I can honestly say as a Mom, watching the twinkle in my kid’s eyes watching the fireworks above Cinderella’s Castle or seeing tears of joy streaming down my son’s face after meeting Mickey Mouse on his birthday was pure MAGIC in my book.

2) Because 2020 was rough for everyone

With stay at home, school at home, work at home, we are all SICK and TIRED of being in our homes.  Disney is moving back to fully opening up and now is a perfect time to think about making those Disney vacation plans.  I can’t tell you how good it felt to be back at Disney this year, which I also call my HOME.

3) 50th Anniversary beginning Oct 1, 2021

For 18 months starting October 1, 2021, WDW will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary.  Cinderella’s Castle has gotten a makeover and it’s more fabulous than ever.  Mickey and Minnie and their friends will be decked out in all new costumes and ready to entertain guests in special calvacades around the Magic Kingdom.  Spectacular light and firework shows will be all new at all 4 parks inside WDW.

4) Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Scheduled to open on Oct 1, 2021 during the 50th Anniversary celebration, Remy’s new ride will be at EPCOT in the France pavilion.  You board a Remy inspired mouse vehicle and see the world as the size of a rat.  Be ready for a surprise around every corner in this new unique trackless ride at EPCOT.

5) EPCOT Festivals

If you love food and extra fun activities around the park, you’ll for sure want to schedule your trip during these special festivals dates:

  • EPCOT International Festival of the Arts – January to February
  • EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival – March to July
  • EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival – July to November
  • EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays – November to December

7) It’s 4 Major Theme Parks in One!

Literally something for everyone is at Disney World.  Magic Kingdom which is home to Cinderella’s Castle and has rides and shows for all ages with the most spectacular fireworks displays ever.  Animal Kingdom is one of the largest animal theme parks in the world with an opportunity to take a real life safari ride through a free roaming animal park.  EPCOT is suitable mostly for adults and teens featuring the World Showcase of culture and cuisines of 11 of the world’s countries.  Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the home of Galaxy’s Edge which is a must see for any Star Wars fan; plus some of the best thrills rides and shows like Tower of Terror and Slinky Dog Dash inside Toy Story Land.

8) Stay in the MAGIC

Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel puts you in the middle of the magic, close to the theme parks, and a water park.  Disney Resort hotels feature amenities that immerse guests in the worlds of classic Disney tales—including themed pools with slides, poolside activities, Character Dining experiences and more.

With over 20 themed hotels, there is something to meet every budget.  Transportation around Disney property is a breeze from bus transportation to and from every park, Disney’s Skyliner, Water taxi’s and the Disney Monorail.  It’s one of the major advantages of staying on Disney property.

9) Disney Springs

If you’re into shopping and dining, then this is the place to visit while at Walt Disney World.  And best of all, it’s completely free to enter as much as you’d like with free bus transportation to and from your Disney resort.  Disney Springs has over 40 shops, entertainment and kid-friendly restaurants right on the waterfront.  Home to the world’s largest “World of Disney” Store, this is a super fun place to spend an entire day or evening.

10) That Warm, Sunny Florida Weather

Anyone that lives in a part of the United States that experiences cold winter months, a trip to Florida is just what the doctor ordered for a mid-winter warm weather get away.  My favorite times of year to visit Walt Disney World is Halloween for the Boo Bash event, Christmas time to see the amazing decorations around all 4 parks and the after-hours Christmas time party and also January through March which features some lower crowd levels and tolerable humidity.
