Safely Dispose of Expired or No Longer Needed Medication for FREE

DEA Takeback Day: April 24, 2021

April 20, 2021

Did you know that according to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants, and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019? And, the majority of these misused drugs were prescriptions found in a medicine cabinet or cupboard in homes of family and friends.

The DEA’s has partnered with local law enforcement agencies for the the Take Back Day events. On April 24th, law enforcement agencies around the country will partner with hospitals, fire stations, police stations, and other community locations to provide an opportunity for expired and no longer needed prescriptions to be safely disposed of. This is an effort to help prevent misuse of prescription drugs which can lead to drug addiction and overdose deaths.

Help keep your family, friends, and our community safe by participating in this event. Drop off locations can be found throughout the US, including right here locally in Muskegon and Ottawa counties. The event is taking place on April 24, 2021 from 10:00am-2:00pm.
