Nominate Your Favorite Librarian to Win $5,000!

September 9, 2020

Librarians touch the lives of the people they serve every day. The I Love My Librarian Award encourages library users like you to recognize exceptional public, school, college, community college, or university librarians.

This award is unique. Previous winners have referred to it as the "People’s Choice Award" of the library world because people who use libraries nominate librarians for the differences they are making in their communities.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, librarians have gone above and beyond to continue serving their communities, from offering digital programs and materials to providing hunger relief and much-needed Wi-Fi access. Nominees are encouraged to reflect on how their librarians’ creativity, passion and expertise have made an impact during these unprecedented times.

Ten winners will each receive a $5,000 cash award, a plaque, and a travel stipend to attend the awards ceremony! Nominations are open through Nov. 9, 2020

Each nominee must be a librarian with a master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association in library and information studies or a master's degree with a specialty in school library media from an educational unit accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education.

Nominees must be currently working in the United States in a public library, a library at an accredited two- or four-year college or university, or at an accredited K-12 school.
