By Mallory Metzger, Hackley Public Library July 22, 2020

Summertime is here and we’ve got some fun things for YOU to enjoy from Hackley Library!  Even though things are temporarily different due to COVID 19, you can still have fun with HPL, by enjoying online programs, checking out items, and so much more!  And, they are all FREE!

1) HPL’s Annual Summer Reading Program - Imagine Your Story

Hackley Public Library’s Summer Reading program is here and will run from June 15 - August 15!  This year for Summer Reading, we are using an online program called Beanstack, where participants can easily register online, track their reading and activity progress right from home, and have the chance to win some cool prizes.  You don’t need to have a library card to participate!  Visit the HPL Beanstack link to sign up, and track your reading and activity progress right at this website!  Adults can participate too!  Get the details here.

2) Visit the Hackley Library Shakespeare Garden!

Have you ever visited the garden outside of HPL? It has beautiful flowers blooming, and a nice bench to sit on! You might want to also take a peek at the whimsical statue of a frog parent and child reading a book together.  Ribbit, ribbit!

6)  Enjoy a Chapter Book Read in August!

Kick back and enjoy a classic adventure tale of two children who run away to live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art!  We’ll be reading online From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg, daily at 3 PM in the month of August on Hackley Library’s Facebook page.  While there, Claudia and Jaime discover a mystery only they can solve!

7)  Go on a Virtual Adventure!

We have a quest for you, if you choose to accept it!  Running through July 30, you can participate in the MI Library Quest.  Visit Hackley Public Library’s website and look for the MI Library Quest Link.  Once you find it, click for more information, and then start your journey by visiting at least 23 different library websites in the state of Michigan (with the option of visiting over 80 library websites)!  Find items virtually on these library websites, and add them to your list to slay the Dragon - and maybe even win a prize!

8) Check out items

Check out books, DVDs, CDs, and more from Hackley Public Library, all for free with your library card!  Discover everything imaginable, as you read adventure stories, mystery novels, and history books.
