Giving blood is a quick, simple way to give back to your community. According to the American Red Cross, "Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation." Just an hour of your time donating blood can give the gift of life. And, did you know that in several states, including Michigan, teens ages 16 and 17 can also donate blood with parental consent?
