What's Happening? May 20-26

By Sarah Boucher, Publisher Macaroni Kid Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Muskegon May 20, 2020

⭐ WEEKLY UPDATE ⭐

It was a busy week for our family last week.  My youngest turned 8.  I tried to convince him that we should just skip his birthday and enjoy another year of him being 7, but he told me "it doesn't work like that!"  It is so true that the days are long, but the years are fast.  We took a walk down memory lane looking at favorite photos from each year of his life, and it's amazing how quickly they grow up.  I'm proud to be his mamma, and he's turning into a wonderful young person even though he's not my "baby" anymore!

We also taught our kids about hard work and manual labor.  We had two trees taken down, and that equated to a lot of wood to split.  At first glance, we didn't think it would take very long, just a few hours.  Well, 9 hours later, it was all split and stacked.  We have enough bonfire wood for the next two decades!  We also had some fun fishing (my youngest daughter caught a big one!) and exploring new hiking trails.

This week we look forward to more time connecting, enjoying the outdoors, and cranking out more academic time.  My oldest daughter will be finishing up her junior year online, and the younger kids will continue their academic time through the summer in hopes of it increasing their retention and helping them be better prepared for 3rd and 4th grade in the fall.
