Reinventing Pizza

Pizza Casserole!

By Sarah Boucher, Publisher Macaroni Kid Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Muskegon December 29, 2019

My family LOVES pizza.  This casserole is a great way to reinvent pizza -- give the kids the dinner they love with a spin!  You can also use up some leftovers in your fridge, as there are so many options for pizza toppings, and a casserole is a great "catch all!"  My family likes to make a half-and-half casserole as we are a house divided when it comes to pizza toppings.  You could also use small ramekin type dishes and everyone could make their own "personal pan casserole"!

  • 1 can of tomato sauce (15 ounces)
  • 1 can of pizza sauce (15 ounces)
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni noodles, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated or shredded, your choice)
  • Pizza toppings of your choice.  Here are a few ideas:
    • Mushrooms
    • Pepperoni
    • Ground Italian Sausage
    • Onions
    • Green Peppers
    • Olives
    • Diced Ham

  1. Grease bottom of 9x13 pan with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. Mix the tomato sauce and pizza sauce together in a separate bowl.
  3. Cover the bottom of the pan with the cooked and drained macaroni noodles.
  4. Pour half of the sauce mixture over the noodles, spread evenly.
  5. Layer half of your pizza toppings.
  6. Pour the other half of the sauce mix over the toppings, spread evenly.
  7. Layer the remaining half of your pizza toppings.
  8. Sprinkle on Parmesan cheese and top with mozzarella cheese.
  9. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and casserole is heated through.
